It always amazes me how many people are shy about this hobby. I am not shy at all. Well, I can be shy in groups, but I’m not shy about letting people know that I love this hobby. This is why you shouldn’t be either.
Look, are you still hung up on how people will view this hobby of yours? You need to stop. The faster you can stop doing that, the faster you can start finding the really good stuff! Yep, you heard me right.
I have a story as a “case in point.” I was just having lunch with a friend I don’t see that often. He’s a great guy who lives in an older part of town. I have let him know about my hobby before and so he asked me about it. I told him about all the good stuff I have found and he was surprised. So, what did I do? Did I leave the conversation there? No, I asked him.
He was more than happy to let me come over and hunt his property. He knows who I am and that I will take care of his property. I’m not going to be an idiot and dig holes all over and leave them. But, he wouldn’t have offered because he probably wouldn’t have thought about it. That’s just the way it is folks. You have to let people you love to metal detect and ask if you can hunt their property.
The fun thing is that I will be able to post pics of any finds on here. You just never know what you will find! Man, I love this hobby.
